The Office of the Jurisdictional Secretary is responsible for maintaining accurate and detailed records of the Tennessee Eastern Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction's administrative, ecclesiastical, and civil operations.

The duties and responsibilities of the Jurisdictional Secretary include:

  • Official keeper of the Jurisdictional Seal and is the cosignatory and/or signatory on all official documents pertaining to TE2J

  • Develops and maintains documents and data pertaining to the Jurisdictional Assembly

  • Administers, at the discretion of the Jurisdictional Prelate, the credentialing process of those engaged in the ministry of the local assemblies

  • Serves as the official conduit of actions and information to the General Secretary or other entities as established by policy or directed by the Jurisdictional Bishop

  • Certifies, with the Jurisdictional Prelate, delegates to the General Secretary for participation in the General Assembly representing TE2J

  • Publishes official documents and certificates

  • Maintains the official record of Jurisdictional proceedings

  • Distributes pertinent information to the constituents of the Jurisdiction

  • Plays a pivotal role in church legal matters

  • Collects and reports church statistics

  • Maintains an accurate database of Jurisdictional credential holders, officers, churches, and districts

  • Keeps an archive of historical documents from across the Jurisdiction, including books, national and jurisdictional records, and photographs and memorabilia of historical value

  • Ceremonial activities, including inaugurals, celebrations, and ecumenical services

  • Registered Agent for the Jurisdictional Church and signatory on all official documents
