JURISDICTIONAL SUPERVISOR OF WOMEN
Missionary Shelia Hamilton
Shelia E. Hamilton was born and raised in Clarksville, Tennessee, to the union of the late Jim and Willie Mae Long. She is the second of six children. She received her education from the Clarksville Montogomery County School System and graduated with her Cosmetology License. In July 1979, she married Phillip Hamilton and to their union, they were blessed with three children: two boys, Phillip Jr., and Marcus, and one girl, Candace. On July 7, 2024, they celebrated 45 years of marriage.
Shelia gave her life to Christ at the age of 20 years old. She has held many offices in the church including local, district and jurisdictional. These positions include Radio Broadcast Coordinator, Usher Board President, Choir President, Sunshine Band Vice President, Pastor’s Aid Vice President, First Lady Day Coordinator, District Hospitality President, Jurisdictional Hospitality Vice President, Jurisdictional Hospitality President, Jurisdictional Executive Hospitality President, and Executive Board member of the Jurisdictional Women’s Department of the Tennessee Eastern Second Jurisdiction. She received her Missionary License from the Church of God in Christ in 2001, under the tutelage of Mother Verna M. Bonner, Jurisdictional Supervisor, and was appointed District Missionary of the Knoxville District and later served as the District Missionary of the Johnson City District.
After 25 years in the Knox County (Tennessee) School System, she is now in full-time ministry, alongside her husband, Superintendent, Phillip D. Hamilton, Sr. She is currently active in many areas of her local church, Children of God Ministries COGIC, which includes Sunday School Teacher, President of the Women’s Department, GIRLS Inc., Coordinator, Church Secretary, and helping in any way that she can. In September 2020, she started a ministry called, “Sister Check- In,” that meets every Sunday night, via Zoom, for women of all ages to connect. She is a lover of people, loves the work of the women’s department and has a passion for single mothers; to motivate and empower them with tools to maneuver through life.
Her other passions include being a Mary Kay consultant, in which she has been at “Star Consultant” status for several months. She loves to shop, read, walk, decorate, travel and watch movies when given the opportunity. She is the proud grandmother of eight; Jordan, Xavier, Isaiah, Janisha, Jayanah, Mikah and Azaria, with one in Heaven, Justyce. On November 12, 2021, she was appointed Jurisdictional Supervisor of Women of the Tennessee Eastern Second Jurisdiction. She loves the Lord, wholeheartedly, and enjoys serving God’s people. Her favorite scriptures are Psalm 34:1-3, “I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make a boast in the Lord, the humble shall hear thereof and be glad, Oh magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together,” and 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus, concerning you.”
